Athletes and coaches chomped at the bit to return to their respective field of play after the summer lull.

Fall athletics such as cross-country, football, boys soccer, cheer, softball, and volleyball began last month and will continue through late October/early November.

Thanks to bond money the Harrison School District 2 received, many Harrison and Sierra High School athletes will compete on renovated fields and courts.

Mitchell athletes still have fresh turf at Garry Berry Stadium, which was replaced in 2021, along with the old track.

Local athletes will compete at numerous venues throughout the season. Some of their featured home events will include:

Harrison vs. Sierra (football) Nov. 4 at Sierra High School. The contest is the finale for both teams. Sierra has not defeated Harrison on the gridiron since 2010 when the Stallions won 52-27 in the rivalry matchup.

Harrison/Sierra/Mitchell (cross-country) at El Pomar for the Panther Invitational on Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. Time is subject to change. This is one of the few opportunities to catch local distance runners in a nearby competition.

Sierra (softball) at home vs. Mitchell on Sept. 22. The Stallions will host 11 home games at their newly renovated field at Sierra High School. The regular season ends Oct. 7 in Denver, but their contest on Sept. 22 will be the first senior day at the location.

Mitchell (volleyball) at home for the Marauder Volleyball Invitational on Oct. 29. The tournament serves as the final regular season contests for Mitchell and the school will host a slew of local and distant opponents.

Be sure to check out these and various other competitions with Southeast athletes throughout the year.
